February Earnings Report – Meh…

4

Meh

Okay lets just start off by saying the February is the shortest month in the year. It’s very difficult to increase your bottom line over a previous time period when your current time period is 3 days shorter 🙂  It’s never a good thing when someone starts of a blog post with excuses right?  In any case, February has come and gone and I owe you guys a summary of what happened.

All and all February was a lack luster month.  Most of my time this month was spent attempting to tame the Google Content Network to no avail.  Although I started off the month full of ideas and rigor related to the content network, I ended the month very short of my expected profitable outcome.   Again, as stated before, I do not plan on giving up on the Google Content Network.  I’m just calling a Spade a Spade and looking at my failure for what it was and to learn from it while moving on to the next set of tests.

February Revenue

As you look at my revenue chart this month, you’ll see that the same two affiliate networks Neverblue and MundoMedia are still the cause of the majority of this month revenue with $5,726.30 and $3,901.51 respectively.

Neverblue February Stats

One thing to note about the revenue from Neverblue this month is that the majority of my income from them comes from only a couple of offers.  If you may remember from a few posts ago, this is EXACTLY the position I didn’t want to find myself in as it makes me really vulnerable to the whims of the advertiser.  If the advertiser were to today say that they didn’t like my traffic anymore, my income would almost immediately dry up over night.  Going forward, I’m definitely working on finding other converting offers to diversify my portfolio.

February Expenses

The main take away from my expense chart is the fact that my Google Adwords expenses increased.  This can be fully attributed to the fact that I was just trying to figure out the Google Content Network.  No surprises there.   Other than the normal expenses, I did try my hand at buying intext traffic from 50onRed.com.  They are a great source of traffic if you can match the right offer with their traffic.   I ended up breaking even with my media buy there.  So no loss no foul.  It was a learning experience to work with them and I plan on getting my feet wet with their system again in the near future.

February Profit

Last month I set a goal for the month of February to bring home (after Taxes and Tithes) $6,000.00.  As you can see from the chart above, I did not even meet 1/2 that goal.  For the reasons I’ve put forth above, Feb was just a sucky month for me.   I put too much effort into some things that were not working out instead of concurrently looking for other opportunities that could have been paying dividends by now.  However, if I were to put things in perspective, $2715.52 in take home profit is not a bad haul for the month.  Things could have been worse.  Please dont get the impression that I’m not satisfied with my earnings or any earnings per say.  I’m more dissatisfied that I didn’t reach a goal that I set forth for myself.

I can’t fully bash my experiences this month however.  I really stepped out of my comfort zone and tried a bunch of new things.  It’s true those things didn’t all reap the results I wanted, often falling way short of my expectations.  But I learned alot and HAD FUN in the process.  That’s one thing I can say about this online business.  Even during its ups and downs, its still fun!  When you enjoy what you do, it makes those 12 a.m., 1 a.m., 2 a.m., 3 a.m. nights not seem as draining.

17% Completed Goal

Last month I introduced you guys to a goal of mine to pay down my mortgage by $30,000 by the end of the year.  To do this, I needed to make at least $2,500 a month from my internet ventures to put into a pot to do so.  Needless to say, although February was a lackluster month, I was still able to hit this goal.  This puts me at 17% of reaching my goal!!!

So what’s the plan for next month?  Since I set my monthly goals at the beginning of the year, I will stick to them and focus on achieving the $8,000.00 “take home” profit goal for the month of March.  I will also focus on expanding my portfolio of CPA offers as so not to be locked out in the cold if any current offers go away.

Finally I’ll be starting a 2nd round of research centered around developing my physical consumer product to sell online.  I’ll talk more on this in the coming weeks.

Until Next Time

You mentioned that the majority of your income from Neverblue came from 2 offers. Is that the same with MundoMedia, or was the income from Mundo spread more evenly across offers?

  4. admin says:

    Hey Mel,

The same holds true for Mundo Media. Most of the income if some a small set of offers there. Evergreen offers…but a small set nevertheless..
